Introduction to the Herd

We added a new face to Innishfael in December 2009.  Padron's Halli came here from Ohio and is in foal to a 7/8ths Arabian Pinto stallion for a 15/16ths Arabian foal due in July 2010.

One of the most wonderful things we have done in the upgrade of our Farm is to add 'box gates' to each pasture.  These have a gate on each end and allow me to move select horses in and out without worrying about any of the others coming along.  Putting bales of hay out in the pasture with the skidloader is a breeze and I have no concerns about loose horses or wainting to have an extra person to run the gate for me.   Another great use is to have the box gate as a "meet and greet" so new horses can be introduced to the herd without incident.

Halli got to meet the Herd yesterday and I had the camera on hand.  The mares were eager to meet her and she spent about 20 minutes in the box gate, just meeting everyone in a safe environment.  Here are some photos I wanted to share with you

One more meeting of the noses before they all go to eat...
